Dr. Maya Meinhold Shelton, DC is a licensed Chiropractor in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. She is certified by the IVCA (International Veterinary Chiropractic Association) to perform animal chiropractic and is registered with the MN Board of Chiropractic Examiners to practice animal chiropractic.

Dr. Maya completed her Doctorate of Chiropractic at Northwestern Health Sciences University in Bloomington, MN and obtained her Animal Chiropractic Certification from Options for Animals College of Animal Chiropractic in Wellsville, KS.

Dr. Maya also holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls in Animal Science with an Equine Emphasis.

Dr. Maya is certified in a myriad of soft tissue techniques including Myofascial Release Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), and more in order to provide the best possible care for your animal partners and companions.  Along with the traditional HVLA (high velocity, low amplitude) adjustments that are the core of chiropractic, Dr. Maya is also an instructor of the Equine BAC Technique.  BAC stands for a Biomechanical Approach to Chiropractic. This technique utilizes both facilitated osseus releases and guided mobilizations of vertebral subluxation complexes.  It is a gentle technique and often better tolerated by many horses as compared to traditional adjustments.
